Theta Tau wins Cheney Cup and Homecoming!
December 03, 2009 by jg

Brothers,

This is a little overdue from past years as IHQ took quite a while longer to finish judging the Cups Reports this year. I know that I, as well as the rest of cabinet, have been anxiously awaiting these since about June. This year we racked up on the awards. Below is a listing of the awards, our place, as well as a description of the award.

CHENEY CUP: Awarded for the greatest all-around efficiency in scholarship, fraternity relationships and general collegiate activities.

-First Place: Theta Tau at Tennessee Technological University

As most of you know, the Cheney Cup is the big one. This is the first time that Theta Tau has won it and I assure you we have worked hard to achieve it the last few years. It is great to see the hard work of the chapter, graduates, and support finally pay off for this great chapter accomplishment. I hope this is the first of many more to come!

BRIGHTMAN TROPHY: Presented to the undergraduate chapter which best demonstrates that Phi Gamma Delta is ?not for college days alone.?

-Third Place: Theta Tau at Tennessee Technological University

COON PLAQUE: Awarded for the best chapter publication.

-First Place: Theta Tau at Tennessee Technological University

CROWDER CUP: Presented to the most outstanding faculty advisor.

-First Place: Dr. Jed Young (Purdue 1984) - Tennessee Technological University

COULTER CUP: Awarded for service to an undergraduate chapter other than as Purple Legionnaire.

-Third Place: Matthew S. Leonard (Tennessee Tech 2001)

DURRANCE AWARD: Presented to the most outstanding Purple Legionnaire.

-Third Place: Bo W. Byers (Tennessee Tech 2006)

HAYNES AWARD: Presented to the Fraternity?s most outstanding Section Chief.

-Second Place: J. Brent Ellis (Tennessee Tech 1999)
-Third Place: Brian M. Douglas (Tennessee Tech 1998)

JORDAN BOWL: Awarded for achieving the highest scholarship among undergraduate chapters.

-Third Place: Theta Tau at Tennessee Tech

ZERMAN TROPHY: Awarded for promoting the involvement of brothers in student government, the campus newspaper and extracurricular activities.

-Honorable Mention: Theta Tau at Tennessee Technological University

Wilkinson, Owen, Condon, Baker

As you can see, the chapter is still alive and well. The only Cups that we did not place in were the Wilkinson Award (Most outstanding senior), Owen Cup (greatest improvement in scholarship), Condon (greatest improvement in scholarship, extracurricular, and fraternity relationships), and Baker Cup (religious, ethical, and social service activities).

Also, the chapter would like to thank all of those graduates that were able to attend during Homecoming this year. The theme was haunted homecoming and Phi Gam joined up with ADPi for yet another Overall
Homecoming victory!

Again, thank you graduates for your continued support and guidance. Without the foundation that you set in place as well as the work you continue to do for the chapter, we would not be able to achieve these
great awards. Like this past Pig Dinner where we had the Zerman Trophy, this year we hope that we can get the Cheney Cup to display for everyone to see!

Always proud to be a Phi Gamma Delta,

Dustin Turner

Perge!
